NIGERIA WINS SILVER IN HOLLYWOOD.

Savage Ayodeji Afeez, a final year Mass communication and media technology student at Lead City University, Ibadan, became the first and Only Nigeria to represent Nigeria in the annual World championship of performing arts in Hollywood, California, United State of America. The Lagos State indigene also became the first to win a silver medal in the swim wear category of Modelling event of the global meet, which recorded its 18th edition this year. Savage who is the present Mr. Oyo stepped down from contesting in the final show down of the on-going Mr. Universe regional contest. He said “I stepped down to give others the chance to compete because; I have achieved a lot from the world championship of performing arts being an African model champion by virtue of my silver medal” Savage who is currently been bombarded with modelling contracts from United States, South Africa, and Europe, said he will settle down to any agency with the highest bid. Meanwhile, The National director of the world championship system in Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Odika, said that Nigeria has recorded a milestone and set the centre stage for other African nations. He also condemned the actions of the United States embassy over the mass refusal of contestants and officials visa applications. “It’s an act of discrimination and we have reported this to some government quarters and top Nigeria media agencies. Only one person was issued visa out of over twenty people, which was made up of contestants, officials and supporting guests. We tried to reach to the consular general but all our efforts were rebuffed. I would like to use this medium to tell the United ambassador that our mission to Hollywood is to show to the world our rich culture, talents and also to explore the opportunities the world championship of performing arts is offering to youths from all over the world”. Odika said. Savage is currently making plans with the Nigeria National Director and officials of Team Nigeria to pay medal presentation visit to key government agencies and other people that matters in the society in honour of his outstanding hallmark and service to the nation. The 18th World Championships of performing arts took place at the prestigious Westin Bonaventure hotel and suits, Los Angeles, from 11th to 20th, July 2014. The 19th edition according to the Nigerian Director, will take place in July, 2015 at Long beach, California, United States.
