TWENTY SEVEN VILLAGERS FEARED KILLED IN ZAMFARA BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN.

Twenty-seven persons, including one policeman were killed by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday in Dangulbi Village, in the Dansadau Emirate of Zamfara state, northwest, Nigeria.

An eyewitness, Lawalli Dangulbi, who spoke to journalist at Gusau Specialist Hospital, stated there was pandemonium in the village when the attackers struck, shooting sporadically.



Dangulbi, who is the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) for Maru Local Government Area in the forthcoming Local Government Council polls, explained that the other dead bodies were discovered in neighboring villages of Biya, Guru and Sabuwar Kasuwa.

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Gwary visited the scene of the crime sympathize with residents of the village.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sanusi Amiru, confirmed the incident but refused to give further details.

The attack might be a reprisal for an earlier assault on the criminals’ enclaves in the emirate by security operatives and vigilante groups.

The attackers were reported as not having taken anything from their victims during the attack.
